Abingdon Road Relays

Sunday 30th April

6 Hooky ladies and 3 Hooky men travelled down to take part in the Abingdon Road Relays on Sunday afternoon. The ladies compete in teams of 3, each running a leg of just over 5km. The men are supposed to run in teams of 7, but sadly we weren't able to fill a complete team, so weren't able to compete in the overall event.

Our ladies teams finished 7th and 16th in the Senior ladies event. Well done all.

Virgin Money London Marathon

Sunday 23rd April

A really good contingent from Hooky Harriers made the trip down to London for this years marathon. Anwen gained entry wiith a good for age place, Cheri won a place via a London Pride competition, Rachel's name was pulled out of the hat for the club place and Julian, Danny and Lisa all ran for charity, raising impressive amounts for their respective charities.

It was a fantastic day, with lots of Harriers also heading down to London to support the team. David dragged the Hooky Harriers flag with him and managed to get it flying at the Blue start, then at 6, 17 and 25 miles (sadly the BBC camera men obviously didn't understand the importance of getting our flag on the TV coverage!)

Massive congratulations go to all the runners here with Cheri, Rachel, Danny and Julian running their first marathons (will it be their last?! I suspect not...)

Chedworth Roman Trail

Sunday 9th April

5 Harriers made the trip over to Chedworth for this hilly 10 mile race with the added bonus of a river crossing!! I think the river might have been a welcome sight for all the runners given the heat of the day. Great running from all here, and an extra well done to Darren for completing the race despite turning his ankle early on.
