Bourton 10k - 25th February

A cold start to the 2018 Bourton 10k, although the sun was shinning and it didn't take long for the 9 Harriers to warm up - with 3 PBs achieved today! This popular local 10k continues to attract Harriers to the beautiful village of Bourton-on-the-Water every year. Sera and Julian Relton even made the trip down with Archie the dog to cheer on and take photos - very much appreciated!

Clwydian Sheeptracks fell race

25th February 2018

A moment of fell-racing glory for the Hook Norton Harriers: Simon Pipe won a prize. True, it was a thermal hat for the fastest person wearing race number 298 - the raffle ticket remains taped on the front - but a prize is a prize. Simon's strategy for the unmarked double traverse of the Clwydian Range in north Wales was simple: follow other runners when they took a bad line, and never when they took a good one. And when leading a group, go really badly off-course. Conclusion: a recce has limitations when done on Google Maps.

17.4 miles (at least)

4,600 feet of ascent (and then some)

Time: 3:43:10

Christmas Reindeer 10k Fun Run

Claire Upton took on this delayed 10k on the 4th February in a time of 1:20:03. Claire's longest run since October, although the sun was out it was freezing! Despite a red eye and a swollen foot and on reflection she'd have liked to have been 4 seconds quicker #HardcoreHarrier

Long Mynd Valleys Race

Long Mynd Valleys Race

4th February 2018

Simon Pipe conked out on the final hill last year, but a comfortable pace this time meant he had something left for the three brutal climbs at the end of this famously "arduous" fell race, finishing 19 minutes quicker. Despite crazily steep, unstable descents he largely stayed upright, which he attributes to loud and frequent profanities.

11.5 miles, 4,501 feet of ascent
