Bedford Box End Solo 10k SwimRun 1’44’37, for 13th lady & 34th overall (not as impressive as it sounds - it was a tiny field!).

Chippenham Longest Day 10k - 21st June 2018

Lisa was kind enough to send this race report:

Great event, lovely atmosphere start to finish, band playing on the start/finish line. Lovely summers evening and a beautiful course, small section through the town and then out through a park and along the side of the river, and then through the woods and along the old railway line, back over the river and back into the town, very scenic and pretty. Kept wanting to stop and take lots of photos along the route. Just fab

Cattle Creep 10k - 21st June 2018

Thanks to Claire for the race report:

It was a lovely course, winding though parkland in north Milton Keynes,
near to the River Great Ouse, on a gorgeous summer solstice evening.
Bit of a scary moment when some cows started running towards the path
that we were running along, but the marshal soon ensured they ran the
other way.  What made this course a little different was the 20 meter
long Cattle Creep tunnel at about 8km, it was a bit of 'duck your
heads' not that I had that much issue being short. Well organised and
all round a great event, lovely bling at the end too!

Humph's Hilly Half - 13th June 2018

No-one will get away with describing this one as gently undulating! The clue is in the name and even the organisers describe this as "a challenging course

But a special thank you to everyone who took-on this challenging course to support the race."

Heyford Park 10k and Half Marathon - 10th June 2018

Thanks to Royston for this race report:

Royston & Sam took part in a run at the former USAF base at Heyford Park last Sunday.  Although the course is generally flat but when the wind is against you, it proved a little challenging. Sam did the 10k race and with a great time of 46.19, came 20th overall and 4th in her age (under 21) category.

I did the half marathon and after four years of trying I finally went under the 1.30 mark with a time of 1.29.49 which meant that I came 8th overall and 2nd in my age category.

Although not the most exciting or scenic race, it’s a great course for anybody looking to a do a PB at either 5k, 10k or half marathon distances..

Chiltern Chase 10k - 3rd June 2018

Another day, another missed race due to injury, thanks to David Bannister for this race report:

Just one Harrier was able to run this years Chiltern Chase. It was even hotter than the previous days racing. This is another race on the club championships, and it's another scenic course around Ewelme, South Oxfordshire. Rachel Bannister sweated her way around the blazing hot 10k course (they also offer a 5k and 15k). Another fantasic local event raising funds for local charities.

Ottmoor Challenge - 2nd June 2018

Thanks to Royston for some thoughts on the challenging Ottmoor Challenge Half:

Donna, Simon & Royston took part in the ‘Otmoor Challenge’ on Saturday which turned out to be a very hot day. It’s a half marathon distance with the majority of the race being on bridle paths. Given the recent rain in Oxford, the course was a little muddy but this only enhanced the experience. The race is on the back of a village fete so the atmosphere is really good but the best part of it is when you finished you can undo all the good work with an abundance of tea & cakes!!

1:42:25  Royston Williams

1:42:28  Simon Woolley

1:42:29  Donna Allen

Tysoe Windmill 10k - 2nd June 2018

Although he wasn't able to run, David Bannister was still good enough to send this race report:

Another blisteringly warm day was had at this years Tysoe Windmill run. Already a really tough course made all the more difficult in the heat. This is a really lovely local event, with gorgeous scenery and a real community feel. Great fun was had by all, and fellow Harriers Jane Millward and Suzie Field were also volunteering at the event.

Congratulations to Martin Foster for finishing 8th overall and 1st in age category, gaining a nice bottle of gin into the bargain!
