Rotary Shakespeare Marathon and Half Marathon - 24th April 2022

Described by the organisers: Whether you’re a newbie marathon runner or a more seasoned athlete looking for a personal best, The Shakespeare Marathon and Half Marathon offer runners much more than a great course, which is superbly marshalled and brilliantly organised. This is a chance to experience world famous Stratford-upon-Avon and to run amongst some of the most historical buildings in the country and through miles of beautiful Warwickshire countryside. You’ll enjoy a mainly flat, fast course, taking in sights such as the River Avon, Holy Trinity Church (home to the grave of William Shakespeare) and the Royal Shakespeare Theatres. You’ll run through quintessential English villages, where chocolate box thatch roof cottages, hump back bridges and pretty dry stone walls are a joy to behold.

Well done to Vince for the Marathon and Sarah for the Half

SVN Kent 50 miler - 9th April 2022

Described by the organisers: We've been very fortunate to have been granted permission to hold a the event out of Brooks Farm, Reculver, Kent. The kind farmers there allow us to use their land and facilities to hold a running event and 98% of the route is on their land which does make for some lovely running! (And a huge barn makes a brilliant base camp!)

This event will be an 50 mile endurance run on 6.25 mile loops. With a 14 hour time limit this hopefully will be very achievable for a lot of runners.

From Graeme: horrible drive on the M25 on Friday to get down to Herne Bay for this Saturday race (which means no parkrun!). 8 laps and a 14 hour time limit should have been infinitely achievable, but a hip injury in February has plagued my training and meant I went in under-prepared but fortunately uninjured! I recommend SVN as organisers, understated and a lovely ethos! A long tough day but sneaked in under the cut-off
