Marathon Eryri (formerly known as Snowdonia Marathon) - 28th October 2023

From the organisers: "Marathon Eryri has been voted Best British Marathon twice. The demanding and spectacular route which encircles Yr Wyddfa – the highest peak in Wales – has served to makes this an iconic event in the running calendar."

The route (for those who love a challenge): "The route follows the A4086 and climbs to the top of the Llanberis Pass (Pen y Pass 1.100ft). Dropping down to the Pen Y Cwyryd junction, the race then follows the old road along to the campsite until it joins the A498. This 2km section is farm track, downhill, then the surface returns to the tarmac. There is a short, sharp uphill back up to the main road at the campsite. The route then continues to the Beddgelert (200ft) and then continues along the A4085 to Waunfawr. From here it is a rapid climb to about 1,200ft at Bwlch y Groes (a short length is unmetalled) and then downhill to the finish in Llanberis."

Someone called Mo was at the front of that enormous wave of people, apparently he's had some success at the event in the past so there was a lot of noise for him."

Boulsworth Fell Race - 13th August 2023

6.5 Miles 1000ft of Ascent!!

They say 'The route passes through farmland on the way to and from the foot of Boulsworth, with the middle section consisting of a loop over a boggy plateau, which provides some proper muddy Pennine fell running!'

Richard says ' This event started from the main showground of the Trawden County Show. Then 2 miles of uphill to the fell. Then the steepest I have ever run/staggered up. A short flat bit and then even steeper going down. I have utmost respect for the fell runners. I pushed really hard for last 2 miles as I hoped to get inside 1 hour, which I just did. I really enjoyed the event and look forward to my next fell run'

Otmoor Challenge - 1st July 2023

From the Organisers: "Annually, for more than 40 years, Horton cum Studley has organised a half-marathon with the title "The Otmoor Challenge" around the roads, tracks and field paths of Otmoor. The course being mostly flat apart from a 130 foot climb up to the village of Beckley at about the 11 mile point." Midsummer Murder 10 Miler - 25th June 2023

From Sarah: "Beautiful, scenic course but horrendously hilly!!! Taking in the TV sets of The Vicar of Dibley, Midsummer Murders and the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang windmill! Really enjoyed the event but would prefer it not to be in 30 degree heat! Well organised and marshalled too. Fantastic spinny medal"

From the organisers: "The event takes place in the truly remarkable Hambleden Valley, with mile after mile of staggering Chilterns' beauty, picture perfect flint stone villages, country pubs and a fair few hills.

Our 10 mile and Half Marathon trail running courses are very challenging, but also achingly pretty. We've tweaked the courses slightly from 2022, but all of your favourite features are still there. We take you through the beautiful villages of Turville & Skirmett, past the 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' windmill and of course start and finish in Hambleden Village itself"

Gloucester 10k - 25th June 2023

From the organisers: "We think it really captures the Gloucester spirit and shows off what Gloucester can do. It is organised by the community for the community to take part in and the proceeds go back to the community. The aim of the route is to showcase Gloucester so it passes the Cathedral, through the Docks and Gloucester Quays and there is a run along the canal towpath.  Given the intention of taking in the sites it does twist in the odd place, but is still a fast course."
