Hooky 6 Race Information

Thank you for entering the 40^th anniversary running of the HOOKY 6!  Please note that the deadline for transfers in the event of the event selling out, was the 24th July, and we are unable to offer any refunds.  Here is your guide to everything you need to know about the race.

WHEN IS IT?

Sunday 2^rd August 2026 – 10:00am start.

WHERE IS IT?

Hook Norton Sports & Social Club, Hook Norton, Oxfordshire, OX15 5PB

CAR PARKING

We have the use of the School car park and playground and playing field located on Sibford Rd, Hook Norton, Banbury OX15 5JS

 Please use this car park first, be aware this is a 5/10 minute walk from the start of the race. There is limited parking at the Sports & Social Club too but this will be prioritised for the marshals, marshals will be at both locations to help direct traffic. If possible please car share to minimise traffic.  If all parking is full please park considerately around the village away please DO NOT PARK in the roads adjacent to the Sports & Social Club as this will impede the start and finish.

CHANGING FACILITIES

There are male and female changing facilities inside Hook Norton Sports & Social Club.  Belongings are left at your own risk.

WHERE DO I COLLECT MY RACE NUMBER?

Number collection will be inside the Sports and Social Club on the day.  Please allow plenty of time to do to as the collection area is likely to be very busy. 

CHIP TIMING

You will receive a timing chip along with your race number which you will need to secure to one of your trainers.  Please make sure these are left in a loop, and not flattened down as this can prevent the chip being read.

THE RACE

Both the start and finish are on the sports field in front of the Sports & Social Club.

Runners will be marshalled to the start point at 09:55.

COURSE

The course is two laps on road through the village of Hook Norton, and surrounding countryside.  Each mile will be marked.

There will be water stations at approximately one and four miles, and at the finish.

Race marshals will be in evidence around the course to ensure a safe race. Please follow their instructions.

For your own safety, and to comply with our UKA race licence, HEADPHONES ARE NOT ALLOWED – we will disqualify anyone seen wearing headphones except bone conductors.

PHOTOGRAPHS

Photos will be taken on route by members of the Hook Norton Harriers and may be used on our social media channels, if you do not wish for your image to appear please place a large red cross across your race number.

Red marker pens will be available inside the Sports and Social Club.

REFRESHMENTS

Tea, coffee and cakes will be on sale inside the Sports & Social Club.

PRIZES/T-SHIRTS

All race finishers will be able to collect their limited edition 40^th Anniversary Hooky 6 T-shirt and Medal at the end of the race.

Age category prizes will be presented once the last runner has competed the race.  This will take place outside the front of the Sports and Social Club. Prizes have once again been kindly provided by the Hook Norton Brewery

All entrants on the day will also be a entered into the draw for the height of beer prize donated by Hook Norton Brewery.

The Brewery have also kindly given all participants a discount code worth 10% off online purchases at the Brewery, just use the code HOOKY6

FOOD BANK DONATIONS

In light of the ongoing cost of living crisis, and after a great success in our recent races we are asking our runners, if they able to, to help us support two local food banks in Banbury and Chipping Norton by bringing an item from the below list to donate.

Donations required are as follows:

Tinned vegetables, soup, instant mash,  toilet roll, fruit juice, tinned puddings, Jams/spreads, tinned fruit, tinned meat, long life milk, cereal, biscuits, bottled sauces, coffee/hot chocolate and practical toiletries.

Please ensure any donation is within its use best before date, and we thank you in advance for these donations.

SPECTATORS

It would be appreciated if spectators do not follow runners around the course in vehicles. Good vantage points are at the Fire Station (¾ mile and 3¾ miles) and at the Pear Tree Inn or the Sun Inn - all are only a short walk from the start/finish.

2021 Hooky 6 - it was brilliant to have you all back!!

The Hooky 6 is a friendly, undulating, two lap, chip timed, 6 mile road race around the village of Hook Norton.

The 2019 race was unable to take place due to Covid-19. The 2020 Hooky 6 was a stripped back event following our Covid protocols.

2020 Hooky 6 CANCELLED

Hi Folks!

It's with great regret that we have to announce that this year's Hooky 6 will not be able to go ahead due to the current Covid-19 pandemic. Following UKA Athletics & government guidelines it is not possible to hold our event this year.

We will keep you posted throughout the year with news regarding the Christmas Canter as and when we have any information that allows races to go ahead again.

2019 Hooky 6 Results and Photos

The 34th Hooky 6 race and fun run is complete! We would like to thank everyone who joined us this year. We really hope everyone who came along had a fantastic day. Enjoy your t-shirts and goody bags. We look forward to seeing you again next year. Don't forget that the race has become very popular over the last few years and we sold out over a month before close of entries this year, so if you're coming next year, book early!

This 6 mile course takes you on an undulating two-lap route around the beautiful village of Hook Norton. Starting and finishing on the grass at the Hook Norton Social Club the main race is suitable for all abilities (16 years and up).

There is also a 1 mile fun run.
