Founded by a small group of enthusiastic runners, Hook Norton Harriers was started to bring together people of all ages and abilities to have fun, organise events and most importantly, run together. We have weekly training sessions, meeting at 7pm on Tuesday evenings at the Hook Norton Sports and Social Club.
During the winter months we predominantly run on the road, however with the lighter evenings in the Summer we often run cross country through the beautiful Oxfordshire countryside.
As well as weekly club training, members are free to enter any club or public races they like, and at a subsidised rate why wouldn't you?! We also have a Club championship and an annual prizegiving at our Christmas social where awards are presented to members that have made achievements during the year. On top of that there are several club specific races/runs throughout the year and lets not forget the summer social event which is always a fantastic day.
As a club we are also heavily involved in parkrun, with Chipping Norton School and Banbury parkruns local to Hook Norton. Every weekend we have members at one or more parkruns around the country (and often somewhere in the world!).
We also get involved in local race series' such as the Mota-vation series from Kidlington Road Runners and the Oxon Cross Country series. Obviously these are not everyone's cup of tea, and it's entirely optional, but it always makes for a great evening or morning out and frequently ends up in a group trip to a local pub!
Our mixed ability groups mean that there is something for everyone whether you are fast or slow, experienced or inexperienced, our friendly members will make you feel welcome and well looked after, and don't worry, you will never get left behind!
This is your opportunity to meet new friends – we’re always happy to welcome new members to our group. Click here to find out more about becoming a member
